Why a Higher VO2max isn't always better

The discussion is initiated by the case report of a Norwegian cyclist reaching a new VO2max “world record” and a comment by SVEXA's Filip Larsen and colleagues in Journal of Applied Physiology, and an additional article in Nature Communications, that offer explanations of the tradeoff between VO2max and efficiency.
